Mundane Morsel

Sometimes life is just daily

March 19, 2014

Day off

by Megan Stocker in Between Meals, Lunch, Mindful Morsel

Buzzy Bee gets to stay home from school today since the promise of real, honest-to-goodness, orange, elbow noodle macaroni & cheese (not that homemade panko-topped, nutmeg-laced, white cheddar and gruyère nonsense foisted off as such) was enough to merit a star and circle on the school lunch calendar two weeks ago.

There will be broccoli, a whole grain roll, and a trip to the vegetation station, but there will be no note to add to her 133-piece collection of piggies, snails, octopuses, and other marker-on-index card masterpieces.

With sweet-and-sour chicken over brown rice on the cafeteria's docket for Thursday, it's back to the grind for Buzzy Bee.

That trip to Aruba will have to wait.
